In this GIS blog I will be posting maps which I have prepared. Click on the maps to view a larger image. Sometimes you may have to click a second time on the map in order to bring the wording more into focus.

Week 6 Georeferencing Rasters

In this lab we learned how to apply geographic referencing to a raster dataset so that its location is known. We learned how to use the georeferencing toolbar, add control points, and use the residual values to compare each link with its corresponding layer. Residual values which are used in GIS are determined by the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), which is a calculation used to indicate how accurate the spatial analysis and/or remote sensing is. This lab was less time intensive than the last lab.
